Hyde Podiatry Podiatrists are experienced in all areas of foot and lower limb assessment, diagnosis and management.

We see a variety of clients ranging from toddlers to retirees and recreational walkers to elite athletes.

orthotics

We design custom orthotics in our Launceston clinic that fit your shoes, are comfortable to wear and perform as prescribed.

We use the latest 3D laser scanner to model the shape of your foot at our clinic in Launceston so orthotics are customised fit the unique contours of your feet unlike rigid ‘off the shelf’ pre-made orthotics.

Orthotics may be prescribed to treat a number of medical conditions, including unequal leg length, sore arches, leg pain, flat feet, hammer toes, injuries and plantar fasciitis.

Our experienced Podiatrists assess client’s gait and postural mechanics to make corrections in the orthotic design which improve foot and leg function.

Our orthotics are manufactured from a flexible material which is soft underfoot and accommodates the improved foot and leg function.

We can make full or half length orthotics to suit your individual footwear.

biomechanics

Biomechanics is the assessment of foot and leg function and it is an important aspect of our clinical practice.

Our highly experienced podiatrists can assess your gait and overall posture, to help maintain a correct alignment between the foot, ankle, knee, pelvis and spine.

We use a computerised video gait analysis system to allow an accurate observation of your gait and stance.

By observing how our clients stand and walk we can identify points of stress and design treatment plans to resolve these issues.

There are a large range of treatments available including stretching, exercises, mobilisation, dry needling, strapping and orthotics.

Mobilisation & Manipulation

Mobilisation and manipulation of the foot and leg joints is a safe, non-invasive manual therapy technique that corrects the restricted movement patterns in your joints.

This treatment allows the feet and legs to work as they naturally should.

Foot joint mobilisation and exercises to strengthen the foot can sometimes be used rather than prescribing orthotics. However, if we use foot mobilisation treatment techniques in combination with an orthotic, we can often provide an overall better outcome to patients.

This is achieved by reactivating the correct joint movements and muscle patterns then supporting the foot with a soft, flexible orthotic.

This approach avoids the prescription of over-controlled, rigid orthotic devices which can limit our natural joint and muscle patterns.

SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Shockwave therapy, also known as Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT), is an effective non-surgical treatment for chronic conditions including tendon injuries, plantar fasciitis, muscle injuries, shin splints and other musculoskeletal disorders.

We use the latest technology in Shockwave machines which work by emitting high intensity acoustic wave pulses through a special hand piece to the injured area.

The shockwaves stimulate blood flow which leads to a range of beneficial effects including pain relief, reduced inflammation, dissolving calcium build-up and faster healing.

Generally, shockwave therapy supports the body’s natural healing process and has proven to be effective even with persistent long-term injuries or pain.

Acupuncture/ Dry Needling

Dry needling is also known as intramuscular stimulation.

This treatment provides relief for muscular pain, can reduce joint stiffness, improve your flexibility and range of motion.

That’s why this method is often commonly used in elite athletes to treat sports injuries, muscle pain and even fibromyalgia patients.

Paediatrics and Kids Orthotics

Children grow very rapidly so things can change quickly in their feet and legs.

Monitoring that development carefully can help to identify any issues that may arise and allow them to be dealt with promptly. Unfortunately, many kid’s foot conditions may go undiagnosed or untreated until adulthood, when they can become more complex to treat.

Some common conditions in children are heel and knee pain (growing pains), plantar warts, ingrown toenails, flat feet, and chronic ankle sprains, just to name a few!!!!

Also, if you have experienced problems with your own feet, it would be advised to have your child’s feet examined. This is vital for all kids to ensure they have the correct building blocks so they can reach their full potential.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding your child’s feet, please don’t hesitate to ask our experienced receptionist, Sharon about Hyde Podiatry’s Family Screening Assessment Program.
